The "Bee" is a converted stable at Stony Stretton in Shropshire not far from Shrewsbury. It is literally a one up, one down building. The front door is of the "stable Door" design but opened the wrong way, the top half opened inwards, where as a stable door opens out.
The property was advertised as having its own washing machine, which was one of the reasons we booked it, we had just been on the canal for a week so had quite a bag of dirty washing. However when we arrived we were informed that if we required the use of the machine we would have to ask the owner as they had removed the machine to their own house.
I think they had probably converted the stable and lived there while they were building their own new house which stood on the land to the side and when they first moved from the stable had left the machine behind, now a season later they had move the machine as well.
The lower floor was a lounge/diner/kitchenette, There were no stairs only a ladder leading up to the first floor. As you can see from the photo the dogs found it completely impossible to go upstairs. I wonder how someone not as fit and active as us would have got on.
The bedroom was very cosy with an on suite bathroom and toilet. This was truly onsite as there were only half height dividing walls between the toilet and the bed. You could sit on the loo and talk to someone in bed. I can't remember whether there was an extractor fan or not but I don't think so. I often wondered how you get planning permission for something like that.
